GivKwik and Vodafone Americas Foundation
Team Up for #GivingTuesday in NYC - GIV.NYC 2016
New York, New York, October 3, 2016--For the third year in a row, GivKwik is launching a campaign aligned with #GivingTuesday that will culminate in a live event on November 29 to celebrate philanthropy and give away grants to nonprofits doing great work throughout New York City. Vodafone Americas Foundation, which sponsored the event last year, is strengthening its commitment this year and proactively working to increase the grant pool with help from additional sponsors so more funds can be disbursed for greater impact.
GIV.NYC 2016 is built on the idea of philanthropy and the joy of giving. Starting today, nonprofits from across all five boroughs of New York City can register to participate in the campaign. The theme Building Bridges reflects the diversity yet inclusiveness that New York represents. On November 8, the general public will vote for their favorite causes at http://www.giv.nyc. Individual donations can be made through the same site.
In the week leading up to the event, the top ten nonprofits with the most votes (representing each borough) will be selected to pitch their cause live on stage, for a chance to be the first place grant winner. The audience, including those watching via live stream, will vote for their favorites. A lively evening, guaranteed to spark fierce yet friendly competition, will be fulfilled with entertainment, libations, gourmet cuisine, and camaraderie among guests.
Jason Rosado, GivKwik's CEO, says, "New Yorkers are tough, but nonprofits in NYC are even tougher. They tackle big problems head on and solve them - all towards making our city safer, more accessible, and even more affordable. Over the past few years of producing this event, we've been thrilled to see so many companies, causes, and communities come together to make an impact for our city. We expect nothing less for GIV.NYC 2016!"
June Sugiyama, Vodafone Americas Foundation's Director, says, "This event allows us to help drive social good in the area which is the ultimate goal of our foundation. With our stronger presence in New York, we feel it is a perfect opportunity to support our community - especially as we approach the holidays and in honor of Giving Tuesday."
