GivKwik Gets Gotham Giving
- Seeking Nonprofits From all 5 Boroughs! -
New York, New York, September 15, 2015 - For the second year in a row GivKwik, a New York City-based software company, is producing a live event in celebration of #GivingTuesday and in partnership with Impact Hub NYC.
"Giving Tuesday, Live in NYC 2015" (also known as "GIVNYC") will bring together companies, causes, and communities to create personal connections through philanthropy.
For the past four years, the hashtag #GivingTuesday has been promoted on the first Tuesday immediately after the widely recognized shopping days Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It is meant to inspire compassion, at a time when people's hearts and wallets are open, and to encourage people to give online and get involved in impactful ways. More information about #GivingTuesday is available at http://www.givingtuesday.org/
In the months leading up to Giving Tuesday, GivKwik will register 100+ nonprofits from across all five boroughs of New York City to participate in a friendly yet competitive "Battle of the Boroughs." Starting October 20, the general public will vote for their favorite causes at http://www.giv.nyc/. Donations will be made through the same site.
In the days closer to the event, the top two nonprofits from each borough with the most votes will be selected to give two-minute pitches about their organizations on stage at the live event. The event's participants, including those watching via live stream, will vote for their favorite organizations to receive grants provided by generous corporate sponsors. The goal of GivKwik and the event sponsors is to give away at least $15,000 to the winning nonprofits.
Held in a salon-style format, with a backdrop of lively entertainment, wine tastings, and gourmet cuisine, conversations between business people, philanthropists, and community leaders will come alive.
Jason Rosado, GivKwik's CEO, says "Nonprofits in New York City are tackling some of the toughest issues in the world. We are going to highlight their great work, bring the great people of this great city together, and, on one great night, make an impact that's felt worldwide!" The various sponsors are hard at work to make GIVNYC theplace to be on the evening of December 1 for those looking to make a difference.
